Coaching Process For One-On-One Coaching Programs

Regardless of what your goal is – progressing in your career, improving the performance of your team, working with a difficult boss, and so on – I know EXACTLY how I can make it happen for you!

I have been working with hundreds of people for over a decade now and I’ve seen a common pattern. Based on my learnings, I have created a framework that helps my clients achieve their goals more efficiently.

When you engage with me, be it in a 3-month program or a 6-month program, we are in it together. We’ll strategize together, creating an execution plan with clear actionable steps with definite timelines. We’ll meet regularly to monitor progress and make course corrections. You will realize very soon that you will have made much more significant progress towards your goal at a faster pace than ever before.

Let me explain to you in detail, as if you were sitting in front of me, and take you through the process using my INSPIRE coaching model, a framework I have developed on the foundational principles of the ICF core competencies.

Initiate: Let’s get this right. If we don’t break ice and connect, our relationship is going nowhere. So, first and foremost, we need to build rapport and trust together, and keep all our conversations absolutely confidential between the two of us. 

Next, we’re going to discuss the larger goals that you want to work on during our coaching engagement. Since you may have more than one goal, we’ll prioritize and settle on the most important goal that you would like to address first. Once we have clarity on that, we’ll define a goal, an outcome and a measure of success during every session that we meet. That way we know we’re staying on track throughout the entire coaching conversation. 

Be in the Now & Explore: During the entirety of every conversation, my focus will be to listen to you actively and understand the words that you speak as well as the words that you don’t speak (through your body language and emotions) to make sure that I am being completely present with you during the conversation.

We will get into deep conversations to understand your reality, what’s working, what’s not working and help you see your blind spots or unseen blocks and obstacles. 

Raise Self-Awareness: It’s possible that you are stuck where you are right now because you are not aware of some truths about yourself. You may not be sure about some of the talents and strengths that you possess, and the limiting beliefs that are holding you back from what you want to achieve. I will have a deeper conversation with you and ask some powerful questions that will help you look within, introspect and, hence, help you get to know yourself better. The realization will empower you, make you take responsibility for your actions and leverage the resources within you to move forward.

Shift the Paradigm: You may have heard Albert Einstein’s famous quote “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”. Whether or not he actually said this, this is what most of us do. We want to overcome our challenges without experimenting new ways.

Einstein also said “No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it”. Once again, whether or not he said it, there is a lot of truth to it.

I will be leveraging metaphors, stories, quotes, and anecdotes as tools to create new insights for you and change the way you think about looking at a goal or finding a solution. 

Ignite & Increase the Energy: Our conversations won’t be serious all the time. I will use humor and be a little playful to lighten myself and you up. The truth is that, often times, you already have access to self-knowledge, inner resources, and other perspectives. The lighter energy relaxes both of us and a deeper level of truth becomes available for you. 

Reconnect & Redesign: When we start a conversation, you will have come up with a challenge that you would like to address or a goal that you would like to achieve. As the conversation progresses, you may realize that the real challenge or goal that you wanted to address is entirely different from what you came up with in the beginning. When this happens, we revalidate your goal, go back and explore multiple options and design future actions based on the refined goals for the session. 

Execute: Now is the time to move forward and “walk the talk”. We will do serious goal setting with minor goals, draw timelines, decide subsequent actions, and create a support system to achieve the goals you set for yourself. We will mutually agree on a method to review your progress on a regular basis. I will hold you accountable for your actions and you will deliver on all of them!
